International Summer Programs in East Asia ? To Transfer or To Not Transfer Credit

This abstract has open access
Presentation Description (for publishing in the conference program)
International summer programs in East Asia constitute major ?study abroad? destinations for international students at North American colleges and universities. These programs afford students from the region the opportunity to return home for the summer while taking classes for credit. These programs generally fall into two categories: 1) ones that are run by third party companies that attach themselves to host universities and 2) others that are fully run by the universities themselves. In this session, university administrators provide an overview of this evolving educational landscape, institutional policies and practices towards these programs, and specific cases regarding transfer credit.
