Malpractice and certification issues are becoming more commonplace. As an awarding organisation, the Scottish Qualifications Authority's (SQA) practices are scrutinized and many qualifications are regulated resulting in additional reporting mechanisms and in-depth inspection. This session aims to highlight some of the issues that SQA encounters and demonstrate the measures that it puts in place to safeguard the integrity of certification. Through discussion and case study analysis, participants learn about the challenges an international awarding organisation faces in dealing with fraud and malpractice, the steps that are put in place to stop such practice, and what happens when such practice is discovered.
